SCOTUS' decision to reject an appeal to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges is a win for equality everywhere.

Coretta Scott King said it best: homophobic attitudes must be rejected by all Americans who believe in a democracy.

Principle of Nonviolence #2 is focused on the reconcilation of people experiencing conflict with one another.

To build a Beloved Community, we must always seek understanding despite disagreements.

bell hooks said it best, you can't expect to experience love without conflict.

When I think about organizing a community and what it takes to achieve, I think about the work of Ella Baker.

Every member of the human family is connected. Each of us is part of the whole, which affects the plight of us all. We're all called to live in a way that others are not harmed by our actions.

HISTORY ON REPEAT🔁: Much like the Shelby v. Holder decision in 2013, we're witnessing another huge attack on the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

We must do all that we can to raise our voices and protect our right to access the ballot.

All life is interconnected; nonviolence only works with this understanding. What happens to me happens to you and vice versa.

"If what we believe is not costly, than we're left to question it's value." - Martin Sheen

Nonviolence is not passive or easy work, but the sacrifice is always worthwhile.

It takes a great amount of courage to resist evil without violence. We're all capable of tapping into that level of bravery.

On Nov. 1st, families across this nation risk of losing SNAP benefits.

Community is so important right now. If you can help someone, you're doing that necessary work to eliminate the triple evils of racism, poverty, and violence.

Happy Birthday to my love, my partner, and the heartbeat of our family — @officialmlk3.bsky.social 💫

You bring joy and light into every room (and usually a little mischief too). Watching you lead with strength, laugh with abandon, and love with your whole heart is one of life’s greatest gifts.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not about collective guilt. They are about collective responsibility.

#OTD the United Nations recognizes International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. One of the triple evils MLK and Coretta Scott King dedicated their life's work to ending was poverty.

"Give us the ballot. And we will no longer have to worry our federal government about our basic rights."

~Martin Luther King Jr.

There’s something powerful about being in a sacred space — you can feel the weight of history, the celebrations held, the tears shed, the prayers that have been whispered, the peace that lingers in the air.

#OTD in history, Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

When he delivered his acceptance speech in Oslo, Norway, in December 1964, he presented a vision of world peace that remains relevant today.

Nonviolence takes courage. It is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to stand up for what is right despite fear.

Today, I pause to reflect on the passing of Joan Kennedy. Joan was more than just a remarkable woman — she was a beacon of kindness, strength, and grace.

This summer, we had the unforgettable privilege of spending time in Kenya deep in the Masai Mara with her son Patrick, his wife Amy,

We've seen the impact of the people with the Target protests. We saw change when 1.7M people canceled their Disney/Hulu accounts after the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live. History has shown us with the Montgomery Bus Boycotts and many others.

Organized nonviolence has power.

#OTD in 1963, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) organized a massive voter registration drive for hundreds of Black residents in Dallas County, one of the most repressive places in the Alabama Black Belt. This became known as Freedom Day in Selma.

Every one of us is important and precious. We cannot afford not to see the humanity in anyone, no matter how different they look, how different they worship, how different they live, even if we don't always agree with their choices.

Gandhi's birthday is also International Day of Nonviolence.

Gandhi's teachings informed the philosophies of MLK Jr., and it is based on what he called satyagraha, soul force.

Love is the bedrock of nonviolence. It is based on the acknowledgement we are all interconnected.

"We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny."

This means that we are all connected, and what happens to me, happens to you. This is what grounds us in our humanity and reminds us that we can truly only move in love in order to move forward.

Two years ago, I warned about how oppression was being legislated in America. Today, we're witnessing that reality.

We must not give in to despair. There's power in organizing, there's power in raising your voice. There's power in the people.

The true strength of this nation is not in its missiles, but in its morality. Not in its prejudices, but in its people. Not in fear, but in freedom.
