🌡 The boreal summer of 2024 has officially been recorded as the hottest on #Earth, according to data from ECMWF #CCS. The global average temp from June to August 2024 reached 16.8°C, slightly surpassing the previous record set in 2023. This year is now also on track to become the hottest ever.

A recent analysis by World Weather Attribution reveals that human-induced climate change has intensified autumn and winter storms in the #UK and #Ireland, increasing rainfall by about 20%. This significant increase makes heavy rainfall events ten times more likely compared to pre-industrial times. 👇

The increase in UK rainfall is largely due to an increase in rain intensity, i.e. the amount that falls on wet days, rather than the number of wet days increasing.

A recent study found that last winter had ~20% more rain because of climate change.
