Us old farts remember when politics and the economy were working for people and businesses. We had guardrails and more ethical standards...It wasn't perfect and had problems. But fundamentally it made today's politics and economy seem horrific by comparison. Someone in 1975 would be horrified.

It's tragically ironic that Trump stole the image of progressive populism while pushing the US far right. Since the 90s, progressives challenged corporate globalization neoliberalism to protect the domestic economomy. They were dismissed as too far left by the Democrat elites. Trump filled the void.
