Machine learning approaches were not superior to the original logistic regression-based endoscopic third ventriculostomy success score.

Comparing to existing benchmarks is a major priority as we translate ML models into medicine.

Does machine learning improve prediction accuracy of the Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy Success Score? A contemporary Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network cohort study - Child's Nervous System
Purpose This Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network (HCRN) study had two aims: (1) to compare the predictive performance of the original ETV Success Score (ETVSS) using logistic regression modeling w...

Pediatric spinal cord injury is (thankfully) rare but also understudied. We evaluated a 24-hour surgical intervention threshold for complete SCI patients in a North American cohort. Fewer complications with early surgery.

Timing of surgery for children and adolescents sustaining complete traumatic spinal cord injury
OBJECTIVE Spinal cord injury (SCI) trials have historically underrepresented pediatric patients. There are limited pediatric data examining the influence of surgical timing on complications and mortal...
