For the record, I am painting a 2000+ point Clans Skryre Skaven army for Age of Sigmar. Clanrats, Arch Warlock, Doomwheel, Lightning Cannon, Stormfiends and Jezzails along with some Stormvermin and the Thanoqual and Boneripper fig that I got just cause. #aos #minis #minipainting

I already have my color scheme picked out and the paints selected for each of those (Highlight, midtone, and shadow colors). Those are set on my worktable, brushes at the ready. I am just going to spend today and tomorrow during the work day watching painting tutorials and getting psyched up.

IDK but I have a little more sympathy for the people on the line who maybe don't want to throw themselves on their swords right this ten minutes for what will happen anyway.

And that made a whole lot of sense to me. Maybe it is that in my dotage and despite my best efforts, I have developed some empathy for people. Maybe I can just see the practical side of not wanting to chuck 20 years of work for the satisfaction of telling a 20 y/o techbro to bite their ass. 🧵

"These folks have given their lives to try and build up this nest egg and to have that threatened is more than they can take. So yeah, it's not as simple as just throwing sand in the gears. It's their lives, their kids lives and maybe even their grandkids lives on the line." 🧵

"It's all well and good to be all 'doing the right thing is sometimes hard but you got to be tough' when you're not the one looking at eating dog food out of a can in five to ten years. You've been in the private sector your whole life. You already know what kind of retirement you're going to get.

- they lose that pension they've put all that time into building. They lose their benefits, their paycheck, their safety net. They lose EVERYTHING and they're over 45 most of them. That means they wouldn't be easily re-hirable even if the job market wasn't total shit." 🧵

"Most of those people in those buildings have been there for ten to twenty years. They have a PENSION that is going to be the thing they use to survive once they retire. If they get fired for cause - and believe me, they WOULD get fired for getting in those guys' way" 🧵

A civil service acquaintance of mine (who shall remain nameless for obvious reasons) enlightened me - because if they get fired, they lose everything. And when I started to scoff, they shut me down hard. "No," they said. "You don't get it. They lose EVERYTHING. " 🧵
