We've filled the rest of our lab positions at our Coordinating Office in Fayetteville! We won an Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council grant to hire lab techs to help rehabilitate archeological collections from eastern Arkansas. Welcome to the lab Jaina, Charlsey, and David!

This year we were granted funds from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council (ANCRC) for three projects! At WRI they will be restoring the greenhouse and Riley will be working as the greenhouse assistant.

ARAS staff meeting day! Almost everyone on staff is at WRI to talk about what's going on in archeology around the state. Always a good time, a chance to catch up with colleagues, and a beautiful place. Thanks to WRI for hosting.

Cool stuff showing up in the lab and in units today! #AASTP2025 Day 11. Artifacts are drying after being washed. Crew troweling down a level. Interesting line of red clay. Whitish lines through the floor and walls of a unit.

Day 4 of #AASTP2025! Lab work is underway, the site survey crew is out identifying site limits, the State Archeologist is taking measurements with the total station, and students in basic excavation are setting out units.

We are getting ready for the Training Program in Archeology that starts in 2 weeks at Plum Bayou Mounds Archeological State Park near Little Rock! Registration for the program is closed, but you can come out and visit during our Public Day on June 7 from 8:30-2:30.

Emily Carter, ARAS lab technician at the Coordinating Office since 2023, is starting her new job this week! She is now a field technician with Flat Earth Archeology and we wish her all the best. We'll miss you Emily!
