In the talk, w/ @jttiehen.bsky.social, we argue that b/c AI romantic companions are tools, created w/ a purpose, they can’t enter into authentic loving relationships. We draw on Beauvoir’s & Sartre’s framework for authentic love which sees the other as free to determine their purpose. iacapconf.org
