the process that transforms the values of a (relatively) small group of business owners into the values of a whole society is better documented elsewhere

the business owners in my friend group are pretty open about their fantasies of power. they hear execs like Jamie Dimon abusing his workers and their eyes light up with inspiration. they rationalize it as "well somebody's gotta be in power, might as well be business owners"

after spending an embarrassing amount of time discovering that, I can confidently recommend forgetting it all and just adding an `org-link` inheritance to o-c and o-c-k faces
August 21, 2025 at 7:33 AM
cite links *must* use the plain '[ ... ]' syntax. that doesn't tolerate spaces in the link text. but org-cite always inserts spaces between cite keys

it's just so fucking exhausting sometimes. like, nothing feels good, you have to trick yourself into feeling motivated to do the things that you're already behind on just to satisfy the needs of powerful people who don't care about you. is this the real life.

it's getting uncomfortable how much I like hearing That Voice channeled this way

because on the one hand, fuck Gavin Newsom, shitass

but on the other hand, it does pull on me in a wrestling storyline sort of way

the Poisson one I can sorta forgive (it's technically documented, and also easy to fix with filter-args advice)

the students t one is a computer crime though. like if you're going to do Something Unexpected on negative input, at least barf with a message, man. what the hell

no they don't follow a uniform method signature, silly. hope you remembered to enter the parameters backward for Poisson!

no they don't follow a uniform computation scheme, silly. hope you remembered to read the source code and follow a comment to an academic reference before calc'ing Student's t!

yeah I still don't see myself investing in it long term, though I'm gonna play around with the casual interface and see how that goes

this week is using calc in org. like I'm a little unreasonably proud that I made an Excel table in emacs.

needed to do some math on the binomial distribution and there it all is, in a little frame of its own

last week was muddling through the probability distribution functions to calculate for some homework problems
