Yes. That’s definitely one way of looking at it that holds in many/most cases. Purugganan, who is a great plant scientist studying many domestications, seems to be backing a definition that all domestication arises out of a mutualism.

This being science, I’m sure some would disagree. :)

‘a coevolutionary process that arises from a mutualism, in which one species (the domesticator) constructs an environment where it actively manages both the survival and reproduction of another species (the domesticate) in order to provide the former with resources and/or services.’
