Scotland should be leading on peatland restoration but instead the First Minister is taking us backwards.

🚆 People in the Highlands were promised faster rail times.

⏳ Years later, we’re still stuck in the past.

🛤️ That’s why I’m calling for the electrification and doubling of the track of the Highland Main Line.

Approving the Rosebank oil field would be a catastrophic mistake for Scotland’s climate, economy, and communities.

Rosebank will not lower bills or improve energy security. What it will do is lock us into climate chaos while profits flow to shareholders and Norway’s sovereign wealth fund.

🌍 Scotland’s draft climate plan just dropped and it’s deeply disappointing. While countries at COP in Brazil are stepping up, our government’s plan falls short.
We must do better. The Scottish Greens will be pushing in Parliament to strengthen the plan — to make sure Scotland plays its part.

I asked the Cabinet Secretary to ensure that funding for active travel also reaches our countryside paths — which are under growing pressure from increased use.

Communities across rural Scotland rely on these paths for health, wellbeing and connection with nature.

🏛️ The Land Reform Bill is being debated in Parliament right now.
Scotland’s land is hoarded - 50% of it owned by less than 1% of people. One of the worst statistics in Europe.
My amendment sets a 500-hectare ceiling, giving ministers power to stop land sales to those who already own vast estates.

Everybody deserves a safe place to live - and people seeking safety need dignity, not hostility.

The problem isn’t people. It’s the failed asylum system.
Hotels, barracks, barges - all dehumanising and unhelpful. About one in three people in asylum housing are survivors of torture.

Forcing people who have fled war, persecution, and violence into isolated institutional accommodation will do nothing to improve housing or community relations, but will do everything to help private companies line their pockets with more cash.
