This is why I calling for an immediate pause on new and expanding salmon farms to protect these threatened species from disease, parasites, and habitat damage caused by intensive aquaculture.

Everyone deserves a wage they can live off, one that is enough to pay their bills.

There is also no reason why apprentices should be paid at a level well below the poverty line. Essentials like food, fuel and electricity don’t cost any less for them than they do for the rest of us.

I'm encouraging care experienced people to #TickTheBox on their UCAS form when applying for college or university, to say they've spent time in care. This will make sure they get the support they're entitled to - from financial assistance to help with wellbeing. @fosteringnet-scot/ @fosteringnet

Scotland should be leading on peatland restoration but instead the First Minister is taking us backwards.

Lynx were driven to extinction in Scotland centuries ago, but we can bring them back!

@ariane-burgess.bsky.social is proposing that Ministers be legally required to begin reintroducing lynx to their former habitats. MSPs will vote on her proposal on Wednesday.

Here are some of the ways I have been using your voice...
🚒 Called for more funding for firefighters to investigate the causes of wildfires
🚌 Made the case for expanding free bus travel, especially to rural/island communities
🌍 Spoke out against climate-wrecking proposals for Rosebank oil field.

🚆 People in the Highlands were promised faster rail times.

⏳ Years later, we’re still stuck in the past.

🛤️ That’s why I’m calling for the electrification and doubling of the track of the Highland Main Line.

Approving the Rosebank oil field would be a catastrophic mistake for Scotland’s climate, economy, and communities.

Rosebank will not lower bills or improve energy security. What it will do is lock us into climate chaos while profits flow to shareholders and Norway’s sovereign wealth fund.

This Bill is personal for me. I had a former racing greyhound called Bert who was a lovely and affectionate dog, but still carried a lot of trauma and injury from his days of being made to race. I don’t want other dogs to have to go through what Bert and thousands of other dogs did.

🚨 BREAKING

The SNP have just blocked our motion, confirming they no longer oppose the Rosebank oil field application.

If Rosebank goes ahead it'll be a grave act of environmental vandalism. This is a huge step backwards for Scotland's climate action.
Today the Scottish Parliament will vote on our motion opposing Rosebank.

The oil field would release a massive 250 million tonnes of new carbon emissions into our atmosphere, 50 times as much as previously admitted!

We must put people and planet first, not corporate profits.

Could heat networks transform the way we use energy? ♻️

Last week I visited the Midlothian Energy Limited Centre — where waste heat from a recycling facility is powering homes in the Shawfair development.

I’m proud to stand with my colleague Mark Ruskell MSP in calling for a ban on greyhound racing in Scotland. There’s no humane way to make dogs race for profit - it’s a cruel relic of the past.

🌍 Scotland’s draft climate plan just dropped and it’s deeply disappointing. While countries at COP in Brazil are stepping up, our government’s plan falls short.
We must do better. The Scottish Greens will be pushing in Parliament to strengthen the plan — to make sure Scotland plays its part.

In a letter sent on the eve of Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action’s attendance at the COP30 conference in Brazil I highlighted the increasing likelihood of the collapse of the Gulf Stream – and the major impact this could have on Scotland.
November 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM
I asked the Cabinet Secretary to ensure that funding for active travel also reaches our countryside paths — which are under growing pressure from increased use.

Communities across rural Scotland rely on these paths for health, wellbeing and connection with nature.

🏛️ The Land Reform Bill is being debated in Parliament right now.
Scotland’s land is hoarded - 50% of it owned by less than 1% of people. One of the worst statistics in Europe.
My amendment sets a 500-hectare ceiling, giving ministers power to stop land sales to those who already own vast estates.
November 4, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Scottish Greens have secured stronger protections in the Land Reform Bill — forcing large landowners to restore nature.

Too many estates have neglected the land. This change means they’ll now have to act.

🚨 Damp & mould complaints in Highland Council homes up 38% - urgent action is needed.

I’m proud to have led the campaign to bring Awaab’s Law to Scotland. Its inclusion in the Housing Bill is a major step forward in protecting tenants and ensuring landlords act swiftly when problems arise.

Everybody deserves a safe place to live - and people seeking safety need dignity, not hostility.

The problem isn’t people. It’s the failed asylum system.
Hotels, barracks, barges - all dehumanising and unhelpful. About one in three people in asylum housing are survivors of torture.

🐟 Record Salmon Deaths and Fewer Jobs Show Industry is Broken

New figures from the Scottish Government reveal that Scotland’s salmon farming industry has recorded its worst fish mortality rates in 35 years, with almost one in three salmon dying before harvest.

Forcing people who have fled war, persecution, and violence into isolated institutional accommodation will do nothing to improve housing or community relations, but will do everything to help private companies line their pockets with more cash.
