Falling Skies is coming to Netflix so I get to watch all five seasons again. The best alien invasion series ever. Noah Wylie is a college professor running the resistance against a race of aliens bent on subjugating humans. Lots of parallels to our current plight. Recommend if you haven’t watched.

Never mind that SE is a Japanese company, and there's not a lot of reason for US based providers to really care or listen to them when they shout very loudly.
This problem isn't just "SE sucks at net code" (though they do, that's a whole other can of worms). This is a deeply political issue.

First, WoW gets DDoS'd (successfully) all the time. So do other MMOs
Second, the actual SE servers aren't what's being DDoS'd. It's down stream providers, who because they are glorious USA companies, have no incentives to use DDoS mitigation
