It was so obvious none of the sheer venom The Acolyte got was deserved. They can hide behind all their "it's just poorly written!" or "it breaks canon" bullshit all they want. They hated it as soon as the cast and crew were announced. We all see it. Shame on Disney for pretending it's anything else.
