There's nostalgia, and then there's Nouvelle Vague's deeply calculated affectation combined with its unabashed love of cinema. Richard Linklater has clearly been waiting so long to make this love letter to one of his favorite films, and so far it is so damn fun watching it play out.

I am forever thankful for a dark (family!) comedy centered around so many women who are delightfully unhinged in their own unique ways, and that I could see it on 35mm at the @musicboxtheatre.bsky.social.
