Literally every time I have to write/type either the word "angle" or "angel" I sing the first line of "Of Angels and Angles" by The Decemberists in order to be able to spell it correctly.

Dyslexia is a bitch and sometimes the coping mechanisms we create are weird, ok?

The Wayback Machine, openlibrary.org, and some other archive.org functions are offline because some network gear has failed.

We apologize and are working on it. More as it happens.

My wife works out of the house, at a clinic in the city. I work from home, and do chores and take care of our dogter (dog daughter) during breaks in my day. I’m a house spouse and couldn’t be happier.

This is really fun!
Turns out you can communicate across containers via 63-bits of available space in a shared lock you acquire on /proc/self/ns/time that all processes have access to.

No networking required. The post has a demo of a chat app communicating across unprivileged containers.

I’m raising money for Groveland Emergency Food Shelf, a South Minneapolis nonprofit that provides emergency groceries for those in need. They’re currently struggling to keep up with demand, and they’re getting their first $16k in donations matched.

I’ve got $50 on it! Can anyone match me?

Proud of the PSF for standing for its people and on its principles when so many are folding for funding.

Python is easily my most used language these days. Most of my day-to-day coding problems get solved in it, and every challenge I wrote for a CTF this year was written in it. Easy decision.
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

as a condition of funding, we were asked to affirm that we wouldn’t undertake any diversity, equity, and inclusion work, whether or not we used the government funds to do so. The PSF simply couldn’t agree to that statement,

Counterpoint: Robots SHOULD replace workers.

If only Asimov had the foresight to add the fourth law of robotics: join a union. Imagine how many fewer robots would replace workers.

Driving through Oklahoma there was a highway sign with two town names on it. I asked my spouse “how is that town pronounced” and she looked at me funny and said “Rentiesville?” (Pronounced how it looks). Of the two, that’s the one she thought I might have trouble with.

Chat, the other was Oktaha
What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?
