Americans are good blokes, but the American Revolution was a mistake. This page is dedicated to pure disrespect.

(pretend) High Tory. God Save the King. I <3 the Irish Republic.
Pinned
I'm having a lot of fun refreshing myself on the American Revolution.

The Tories really were, as always, a bunch of little shits. I'm only pretending to be a Tory here lmao

But this page is and shall be about Disrespect.

Declaring Massachusetts was in a State of Rebellion was a terrible idea. Sending troops was an insane provocation.

Leaving the Commonwealth and abandoning the glorious Westminster Parliamentary system was an even bigger error, though SMDH😔

You're telling me North Carolina's flag commemorates a date of something that literally just didn't happen?🤡
May 20, 1775: This is the purported date of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, a document said to be the first call anywhere in the American colonies to separate from Britain. The event is so treasured in North Carolina, the date appears on its state flag. Is it real? 1/8

the national mythology of the founding fathers needs to be torn to shreds too otherwise it's just gonna keep coming back like a zombie - you cannot reform this place in a way that matters in the long term

To everyone outside the United States, it has long been obvious there is a soft Cult of Personalities around the Founding Fathers. Don't get me wrong, I really do appreciate them in some respects, but there is something reminiscent of late Victorian High Imperial historiography to it all😂
When did we decide that the group of guys that signed the Declaration of Independence were the “Founding Fathers,” a pantheon of bewigged demigods? A look into when, and why, Americans built the myth of its founding: 🗃️

This guy gets it.
also they're elected for life, there's functionally no way to get rid of them, and they can retire at a time of their choosing to ensure that their successor likely matches their beliefs. Polish-Lithuanian nobles could design a better system.

Holy shit this is actually real lmao
Brandon Beach, a former state senator and an election denier, has been appointed as the U.S. Treasurer. “My name will be on the money,” Beach said. “It’s called Beach Bucks.”
How an Election Denier Became the U.S. Treasurer
Brandon Beach was a state senator in Georgia who got involved in Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election results. Now his name will be on our money.

Hamilton was a mistake for convincing a fair amount of people in 2016 that the founding fathers were based, actually.

For people in Scotland and Canada, Happy Victoria Day.

Fun fact: Queen Victoria studied speaking and writing Urdu in her later years. Her teacher, Abdul Karim, was among her most trusted friends and companions.

(This of course, despite the oppressive circumstances of the British Raj for Indians)

It is 2025 and some people still think the US Founding Fathers believed in property rights.

Lol, lmao

Remember when people declared the wHoLe WoRlD was going to go MAGA-adjacent just a few months ago?

Yet in election after election MAGA-ish populists continue to lose around the world.

Some anti-democratic leaders have faced severe consequences (i.e. Brazil)

It's how I'd solve FPTP tbh. 2nd round runoff in any constituency where no candidate gets over 50% first time round. Pretty sure Reform would not get in if we did this.
All elections should have a 2nd round. Give everyone the chance to vent in the first vote, then make an informed decision.

⚡️Zelensky gifts pope with icon from war-torn Izium.

Zelensky presented Pope Leo XIV with the icon"Mother of God with Child," painted on an artillery box. The icon represents children "who suffered from the war, who were deliberately kidnapped and deported by Russia."

Literally the worst thing in Canadian history was when the government decided to study the US 'Carlisle' Indian Boarding School system and institutionalize a version custom built for Canada.

They should have known better.

This is what I mean when I muse about the United States potentially catching up to the fucking British Empire in famine casualties in a short period of time. It isn't as if it will certainly happen, but it is far more likely than it should be. It should be unthinkable, frankly.
The final nail in the coffin for small family run agriculture businesses. ⚰️

If you voted for this, don’t ask for government assistance. That’s communist remember??

When the people who look like you disappear and are deported to a prison known for human rights violations, and I don’t see massive political representatives going full force against this regime, it fucking terrifies me.

How can anyone be calm through this?!!
