Mike Pondmsith has been getting away with it for over 35 years, he's not gonna stop now

People not understanding that cynicism (that is, pop-cynicism, the cynicism of Diogenes was a philosophy of action, not apathy) is an ideology that comes with its own blinders

This one won't be leaving a vacancy behind, it says so in the article.
November 9, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Except that this resignation doesn't open a vacancy- He's a senior judge, not an active judge.
November 9, 2025 at 3:53 PM
No, he retired to senior status over ten years ago and that vacnacy was already filled. Read the statement.
November 9, 2025 at 3:52 PM
He retired to senior status in 2012 which means that his resignation won't create a vacancy- his active seat was filled over 10 years ago. It's even mentioned in the article.

In terms of the scope of her accomplishments as a Speaker of the House, I think she might only be exceeded by Henry Clay

Jack wasn't a good candidate.

He went around the state gushing about how Trump was doing an A+ job while things were getting harder and more expensive and the state's big pop of Latinos were getting a daily delivery of ICE on video.

He was running a dumb, deaf, and blind campaign.

I'm not necessarily convinced it'll happen

But it would be hilarious which means it's worth hoping for
November 5, 2025 at 1:22 AM
Yeah, he also did this in New Jersey a few days before.

Yeah, the atmosphere around here with Murphy being elected wasn't just that people felt disappointed with Christie, they felt outright betrayed

And besides, if I was an MP I would be on the "I mean, how often do we get to do that these days" train

Florida has always been a hard place to build in certain ways anyway- the state has a high water table and sits on a big limestone slab so it's a roll of the dice whether you're sitting on a future sinkhole.
October 30, 2025 at 8:23 PM
This and things like Trump being attacked by a Bald Eagle are in that same category of "Events future historians debate the existence of"

Probably

There was a recent thing where the Roblox mods banned someone for exposing pedophiles on the platform.

A reminder that Stephen Miller and his wife fled their home because protesters were writing non-violent messages in chalk on their front sidewalk
October 30, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Yeah, Jack's superPAC commissioned a poll from SoCal which returned Sherrill 52-45, which is literally a poll result from two weeks ago.

The other thing is that most environmental holodeck programs (Picard's detective stories, for ex.) are hand-crafted experiences with global option sliders provided by the underlying operating system. They're basically the opposite of prompt generations.

It just happens sometimes that juries will collectively disagree with the premise that something is a crime

Juries were historically uncooperative with the Fugitive Slave Act in the 1850s, to the point that it probably ruined Daniel Webster's shot at the presidency.

There are a lot of WW2 alternate scenarios that would be beneficial to Germany that can be regularly discounted by the line "They could do this, but they wouldn't because they were Nazis."

You know, when I started reading this coverage I was like "It can't be the same Jim McGreevey, right? The one who had an Onion sideline?"

And then the truth was revealed.

Really, there are parts of that movie where it feels like everyone involved in that film is working through their feelings about the first world war, and not just the one who actually fought in it (Bela Lugosi was an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army and was wounded twice).

The same kind of thing happened with Gundam- The original show's audience was overwhelmingly female, and men didn't start getting into the series until the model kits started popping up.
