ICYM this part:

The Reagan Foundation’s income in 2024 alone was $46 million—about half the construction cost of the Reagan Library in today’s dollars.

And the assets of the Reagan Foundation—$455 million—exceed those of eight of the other 12 private presidential library foundations *combined.*

A preview: the rules for release of a non-archival (those who left service fewer than 62 years ago) Official Military Personnel File are crystal clear—to agency personnel, political leadership, and the public: NARA may never release the full file without the veteran's or next-of-kin's authorization.
Stay tuned for big news about NARA—demonstrating why the agency *must* be independent, and *must* have nonpartisan leadership.

In the meantime, here's my article from earlier this year explaining why this is so crucial:

The US Archivist Should Not Be Political
Trump’s nakedly political takeover of the formerly nonpartisan National Archives recalls two troubling episodes from the agency's history.

LINK ROT: 38% webpages that existed in 2013 were no longer available 10 years later.

Even among pages that existed in 2021, 22% no longer accessible just two years later. This is often because individual page was deleted or removed on otherwise functional website.

Many implications for knowledge 🧪
