😔 I’ve been taking them out for years not for good praxis reasons but for selfish neurodivergent reasons in which I just think they look ugly if they’re too long.

Especially the Amazon/eBay/Aliexpress ones that go on for five rows of text.
I saw an infographic a couple years ago about how to remove source identifiers from links and why it's important, but I can't find it again and too many people I know are sending me links with them so here's an infographic straight from the oven

Bluesky's discover algorithm was already pretty mediocre though jeez I just *cannot* get away from all the political posts on here no matter what settings I change or even after blocking hundreds of accounts and using "see less of this" on each post.

Real people attract real people & fakes tend to avoid authentic people

I respect people who don't sugarcoat, who are blunt, say what others NEED to hear, not what they want to hear.

People who love, appreciate, value & accept you for who you are instead of for who they want you to be & do for them

Good read. Even Europe, a scene relatively well covered, suffers - we often speak of the continent as a homogenous whole, rather than a collection of national scenes with distinct tastes, like the German market’s historical preference for home computers or the Portuguese success of the Sega Saturn.
Here we go, something I've been drafting for a long, long time: how the US-centric approach to video games and their history / culture basically gaslights us who come from other realities:

AKA, why LAN Houses, PokéTibia & Bomba Patch rule.
The Gentrification of Video Game History

This point bears repeating every time I see it. Games culture in Europe is so distinct, but has been so hard to preserve due to the massive amount of US games historians retelling their own 'national' historical account, being picked up by creators and becoming the norm for many folks.

December 20, 2004 saw the release of Doukutsu Monogatari, AKA Cave Story, a free game that was quickly translated into English and became the talk of the Internet. It's hard to estimate the impact it had on the indie scene and on the resurgence of 2D outside handheld consoles.

Note that this is also a thing on Android and this change only affects new subscriptions. For those who want to pledge to users on Patreon using mobile I'd highly suggest you use your browser regardless of who makes your phone.
Today's the first day that Apple is gonna charge a 30% fee on folks pledging to creators via the iOS Patreon app, so remember to pledge on desktop or Android because that's a load of horse shit
