Atlantic article about how Hitler dismantled democracy: “Similarly, Reinhold Maier, the leader of the German State Party, expressed concern about what would happen to judicial independence, due process, freedom of the press, and equal rights for all citizens under the law, and stated that he had "serious reservations" about according Hitler dictatorial powers. But then he announced that his party, too, was voting in favor of the law, eliciting laughter from the floor.”

If I can rip out a gas furnace at my home, thereby making an incremental contribution to protecting children (which is literally the stakes!) I will take that step even if I'm the *only* one.

When you say 'Trump crowd' -his backers are all Ivy League+ grads, which makes it even more like the 1930's. This is war from one set of hyper-elites on everyone. It's important to explain that and focus on how moribund institutions can be brought back to civic life.

He went on to claim that these forces were united against his candidacy; that "They are unanimous in their hate for me and I welcome their hatred."
