Anyway. If I can convince even one person to be more interested in Sybok I will have done my job. Night, y’all.

I wanted a lot more for Sybok. So I’m writing about and drawing him a lot. I like exploring what his past relationship with Spock was, why the deleted “let me go with you!” scene exists, why Spock chose not to do any harm to him at all, etc. etc. It feels like they had something, ya know?

-that a genuinely sinister, evil character would do. Obviously he did do harm in TFF, not trying to ignore that, and maybe it’s the fact I’m heavily against the death penalty, but doing harm should not be a death sentence. It just feels, imo, more tragic than justified. So he makes me sad I guess.

I don’t see a lot, if any, posts that acknowledge how deeply brainwashed Sybok himself was. Like he was canonically manipulated by the malevolent entity for who knows how long. When it all came tumbling down and he realized it was all a lie, he sacrificed himself. It just… doesn’t read as something-

Been in the process of writing a fic where Sybok transferred his katra to Spock when they did their final ta'al and the gang has to go back across the barrier to yoink Sybok’s body and bring him back to Vulcan and the healing process that comes from that. And idk he just makes me sad to think about
