From here I suspect most of the people who wouldn't vote for Dems because of Mamdani wouldn't actually do it anyway. But most who wouldn't vote for Dems because of Schumer most likely might if he wasn't the face of the party.

I was working at a NYC photo shop/lab in the 1970s. A customer wanted to pay with a check for some prints of her family. Gwen Verdon appeared graciously surprised when I mentioned that she wouldn't need her ID. (This was when the events depicted in "All That Jazz" were occurring.)
