Been enjoying the recent @screwitcomics TMNT podcast eps, so I was inspired to dust off my back issues on this rare rainy LA evening/weekend for a revisit. There was magic between Eastman & Laird in 1984-87 and it’s bittersweet to see it fade so quickly after TMNT 11.

Post you from a different era.

2004: In the midst of my obsessive mini-DV documenting years.

Excited to watch Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein tonight and was also reminded of the crazy fact that Pan’s Labyrinth came out almost 20 years ago. I was lucky enough to chew his ear off at a 2006 signing and he was kind enough to give me a free pass to a “Pan’s Labyrinth” screening.

Video games doing what they can to scratch the nostalgia itch for whatever (I have no desire to shoot at strangers in Fortnite, just wanna play with these old toys).

Mesmerized by the iconic Werner Herzog speaking about his new book “The Future of Truth” w/ Larry Wilmore. Werner has a reputation for being dour/dark, but I was pleasantly surprised to leave the theater galvanized by his optimism and humor.

October daily freak roundup 2/2: Don’t wanna end this on a bummer, I’ll keep trying and I hope y’all keep trying too.

October daily freak roundup 1/2: This exercise was an attempt to rediscover the joy of drawing, but it still mostly feels like “work” (with a few exceptions) and I seem to be giving less of a fuck while the world is on fire. (Continued in next post…)

Tetsuo: Last one. The only body horror I can kinda deal with.

Chupacapbra: These goat-suckers are just coyotes or something, right?

First animated crush without saying your age.

Irma Vep: Getting tired at the tail end of this thing and just felt like drawing Maggie Cheung.

Kitaro eyeball: Ge Ge Ge No Kitaro is a classic, despite the fact that I couldn’t tell you a single thing about the story.

What I imagine is happening in Echo Park right now

Lord Death Man: One of the more memorable freaks from Jiro Kuwata’s Batman with a name that would be at home on a Hideo Kojima joint.

Damn. @stereolabgroop introduced me to so many radical sounds and ideas when I desperately needed them in the mid-90’s (Velvet Underground, Marxism, Krautrock, Brian Wilson, etc) and I am so goddamn grateful they’re still hitting the road and making new music in these cursed times.

Blade: This is a re-draw of a sketch from a few yrs ago. Don’t remember what sparked the original, but I’m 99.9% sure it was a reaction to the 5 millionth racist headline I’d read.

Got lucky and scored a last-minute ticket to see the maestro John Carpenter with an absurdly cheap resale ticket tonight (which I paid forward with merch purchases 💸).

Creature of the Black Lagoon: The thirstiest of the classic monsters, so I drew him in that thirsty Wolverine meme pose.

Black Philip: WOULDST THOU LIKE TO LIVE DELICIOUSLY?
October 24, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Possession: Considered drawing the monster but it was too repulsive to look at. So here’s Isabelle Adjani mid-breakdown.
