A little hesitant to post this on here, as I wrote it specifically for the Jewish community in Detroit...but maybe it'll inspire other scientists to write articles in their hometown papers. www.thejewishnews.com/opinion/biom...
Biomedical Research Deserves Support

Announcing an official fundraising campaign to support my lab’s research on APOE4 and Alzheimer’s disease: joinus.cuimc.columbia.edu/participant/.... This campaign is itself an experiment of sorts. But mostly, it's an attempt to save my lab during an unprecedented time of turmoil in academia. 1/9

Indeed. Allen Roses was unable to get more funding and had to leave academia a few years after his lab made one of the biggest discoveries in the history of AD research. At least it’s a good reminder that working in academia has never been easy.
Happy 32nd Birthday to ApoE in Dementia research🎈

On this day in 1993, Dr. Allen D. Roses (et al.) published that the presence of APOE4 genotype reliably predicts risk of early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Needless to say the AD research community was skeptical.
