Assistant Professor at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. My lab studies the role of APOE4 in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis. Opinions are my own.
I feel slightly less guilty about using AI to help me write a grant about an AI-based project. But that might be how the machines want me to feel.

Don't worry folks! Pretty soon we'll go from having a 0% chance of getting grants (govt shutdown) to having a 5% chance of getting grants (continuing resolution and multi-year funding). But that's only temporary...eventually, it'll go back to the easy-peasy 10-15% funding lines we all know and love.

Hmm. Reading about oxygen administration for preterm babies and the potential for hyperoxia and oxidative stress, and that is a topic that I’ve heard zero info about up until now.

Pushing through my skepticism to review these K99 and K01 applications I've been assigned. The good news is that there are some tremendous applicants that could contribute so much if given the chance. The bad news is that there's no way to give them a chance if the govt doesn't open back up.

Big week for all you second-gen psychedelics and non-hallucinatory neuroplastogens fans! New results from Zalsupindole - promotes greater neuroplasticity than ketamine, psilocybin, or DMT, without any of the pesky psychedelic side (fun?) effects.

Zalsupindole is a Nondissociative, Nonhallucinogenic Neuroplastogen with Therapeutic Effects Comparable to Ketamine and Psychedelics
Many neuropsychiatric conditions, including depression, involve synaptic loss and atrophy of the prefrontal cortex. The rapid regrowth of cortical neurons has been hypothesized to explain the rapid an...

Currently reviewing grants for a study section that probably won't happen. Whose idea was it to link the success our scientific enterprise with the proper functioning of the federal government?
