Created by @edgeofthefreak.ca to show off and discuss the amazing qualities of spiders, specifically but not limited to tarantulas. XD

I have 6 tarantulas currently, and eagerly post pics and stories here.

I'm tearing down the summer solar lights, to store away nicely this year (no talking about last year, shuush), and discovered that little tiny spiders having been using the battery chambers to molt inside!

Each of six lights had between 1 and 4 molt hammocks!
Too cute!

Okay okay okay okay I know she's in heavy pre-molt (lookit that bum), AND had a good chance of ignoring the cricket, but she also might've been hungry!

Instead... she let her cricket molt overnight, and she kept her safe lol.

Sad news for all who were as hopeful as I, but our little Latches did not survive her molt. Got the top off, and literally nothing else.
There was certainly nothing I could have done better, but I'm glad she enjoyed a bunch of different foods before going out XD

So Aurora, my sub adult Brachypelma auratum, has finally decided she likes the top of her cork hide, and not so much the plastic walls. She's also picked a poop corner 👏🏽👏🏽

Maybe she'll be looking for decor again? She shoved it all into a different corner months ago hahaha

Another instant home builder!
My new C. darlingi kept climbing up my transfer bottle XD They are fast!
She had a starter burrow, but with better skills than I she's building a side-wall burrow.
Brown on brown, so photos might always be a bit blurry, but this is ✨Twilight Sparkle✨!

Settling in nicely and feisty!
New home for 1.25" A geniculata, and she's pushed all the moss from high ground into the burrow!
During transfer she defended herself honourably against my paintbrush, but I won in the end hahaha

Already packs more punch than my other terrestrials

Picked up my newest spiders today, and gonna rehouse them in the next hour! Horrible pics, but say hello to Macks the A. geniculata, and Twilight Sparkle the C. darlingi!

Another "still not an update" update on Latches, the septaplegic Monocentropus balfouri! No molts needed here, this is her defending against my most recent watering, no issues!

My cute lil tarantula changed her outfit yesterday, so I'm SHARING WITH YOU LOT cuz I'm proud of her.

tarantula lying on it's back (or top maybe?) in a blanket fort made of webs, getting ready to squish out of the old skin fresh out of old skin, lying beside it, crumpled in a heap, still upside down. her fangs are white, but will cure to solid black soon already flipped over showing fresh new orange marking on her legs. she's kinda trying to climb back into her old skin, but likely just climbing around it. either way this picture has 16 legs in a big pile.

She's not colourful as many other tarantulas, but she'll let me put a light on top of her enclosure for brighter pics.

This is Vortex, my 13+ year old Tliltocatl albopilosus, or Curly Hair. Absolute pet rock, this one.
a brown mess of fuzzy legs representing a tarantula. the background objects are all brown too, so that helps her blend in a lower close up shot, trying to show her face. it's still a mess of legs, but they are darker, so it's easier to her shape.

Proper-ish update: the kiwi butt has a VIDEO!

STILL no molt, but this should give you an idea of what my little Monocentropus balfouri has been able to do. She can fetch crickets! XD
Also, I call her Latches 🕷️💜

Go to the pet shop for "just a few crickets", and the perky sales associate gets me a "12 pack" instead...

...turned out to be 30 crickets of literal every size in an 8oz deli. 🤢🤮
They now live in two 20oz delis with a veggie buffets XD
