Well I guess say hi to my new rescue!

This cute 5 legged yellow sac #spider legit WAVED ME DOWN last night. It had a tiny grey V shaped butt, so I scooped it, gave it water. When it's butt was full and yellow, gave a mealworm hahaha

Seems to be okay, almost... happy?
Hasn't let go at all today lol
a incredibly blurry picture of a tiny 1/2" yellow sac spider hanging onto a small mealworm that is actually twice it's size, using it's fangs. this will be a lasting meal for this lil spider

a freshly molted tarantula proudly displaying the two new appendage features acquired with sexual maturity: tibial hooks on the first pair of legs, which are like little thumbs, and bulbous emboli on his pedipalps which look like boxing gloves. he also a leggy monster, giving him speed advantages for mate finding.

Such a dramatic girl! Took her over a month to prepare her molting chamber, then took half a day to squeeze out!

Much tired, she'll get soft noms in week!

This looks like an emo word poem or cover for a mid-90s ZINE but it's just me getting around to labelling my tarantulas hahaha

These popped out of a 30+ year old Brother label maker, and I'm loving the solid single choice of font that I get.
Very clinical.
Labels that read, from the top: Aurora - Brachypelma auratum - Macks -Acanthoscurria geniculata - Mosaic - Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens - these six labels sit on my dinosaur mouse mat, so there's a pair of brachicephalosaurus and some bird dino's there too

Anyone else have a tough time resisting a $5 Fittonia?
Had these at the tarantula grocery store I frequent. Helps make $1.75 worth of crickets feel like a better trip hahaha

Plus, I didn't have this one yet!

a small dark green plants that has bright red veins, giving a vibrant contrast to it's look. the leaves themselves are more rigid than they look, feeling almost papery to the touch. fittonias are called nerve plants for their colouration, and there are 100s of different colour contrasted varieties.

Mosaic has been webbing a ton lately. Her enclosure is top opening, but not this week! Secured a bunch of anchors to the lid, but thankfully she has two waterdishes in there!

I'll post the new 'fit when she gets it!

She is just SO BUSY!

Check those fangs as she tries to move this milk cap. It fell into one of her burrow entrances, and I can't tell if she wants it there or not.
Shortly after filming she had dragged it back to the top.

Ever excavating, my Ceratogyrus darlingi, named Twilight Sparkle, is also ever visible. Not shy at all, so I'm a tad nervous leaving the lid open... but long enough to get this lovely shot.

Aaaand this is the next time she was out. XD

In apparently 22 days, she MOLTED and is now quite hungry.
Dropped a cricket into the enclosure hours ago, and just now heard a THUD hit the side.
Maybe she'll start webbing it up a bunch? All homey-like?

Got out the flashlight to show off some colours today!

That post molt ragdoll effect is so sweet on tarantulas that are 10+ years old.
This is my Vortex, with me for 12 years, gotten as a juvie so she might be 15, piled into a crevice between the glass wall and her bark round XD

Good folks, I am getting another Monocentropus balfouri this evening, but I am driving to pick her up!
No shipping box to give a sense of molting stability for my new girl!

Super stoked, and will likely post unboxing stuff tomorrow!

I'm tearing down the summer solar lights, to store away nicely this year (no talking about last year, shuush), and discovered that little tiny spiders having been using the battery chambers to molt inside!

Each of six lights had between 1 and 4 molt hammocks!
Too cute!
a bright green rechargeable battery sitting in it's cradle, with 3 little cottony cushions of webs. each of these webs were used once to provide security to a tiny spider.
