Cat lover. Dem. Collector of 30s-40s American dinnerware. Warped sense of humor. Atheist married to REAL Christian. No DMs w/o invite. No fundraisers. OK to be on someone's vindictive shitlist, but if shitlists are all you're on... well!
Kat went to the vet today! The mournful yowling started almost at once, the song of her people. But once there, she was a good gurl for her shots and bloodwork and got told by everyone how beautiful she is! Vet didn't see any issues, but we'll get the bloodwork results back soon.

If yer feelin' low, feelin' tired, feelin' like your lights are dim... try to look on the bright side. Bright lights attract bugs. J/K, but gotta find myself some humor, even if it's dark. ::snortlaughs, waddles off::

Hubs came home with a church box. A big one. Containing only ONE thing. A freaking BUSHEL of apples. Small Macs, not optimal eating, looks like I'm gonna be making applesauce. Um. Maybe I should put some parsley in it, hahahaa. Thank goodness applesauce is freezable, I don't have canning equipment.

Dunno if anyone has noticed, but I often use "vernacular" in my posts, like "dunno" or "gonna" and "ain't", plus clippin' (<----) off Gs and other un-literary things in my posts. I guess I'm hoping this keeps me from being mistaken for a trollbot? They don't do that kinda thing yet, do they?

For the last month, some of my dishes have had this sweet smell, almost like cinnamon. My rice. My clam sauce. I do NOT like sweet in my savory. Was making me crazy. FINALLY figured out the culprit. It's my dried PARSLEY, FFS. Badia. Large bottle, of course. GRRRRRR. Out it goes. WTF.

OK, it's a horrible pic, but she's not giving me an opportunity for a better one. Think these hand-felted cat-caves are so freakin' neat, but was reluctant to shell out $50 only to discover she wasn't interested. It was far less painful to snag one at the thrift and find out for only $6 or so.

Gittin' old sux. Never had kids so nothing in my face reminding me of the passage of time. Brain still thinks I'm 30 or so; the ol' bod says "I don't think so, bitch!" Ugh. Young'uns... I know. We're amusing. But dayum. We WERE once like you. Pretty hard to accept we ain't any more. Have mercy.

Need to say something. When you see someone pessimistic about what's going on now... they're tired. Stressed. Worried. Afraid. The last thing they need is to be screamed at not to feel that way.

Try "I know it's bad but", "don't give up yet", or "hang in there". Encourage instead of scolding.

To the person who put the nice, thick strip of duct tape over the gas pump speaker blaring obnoxious commercials... I love you. Marry me. I might be too old to have your babies, but I can bake yummy desserts.

Enjoying her food a little too much. Lazy. Likes to sleep. Sloppy eater. Is her emulation of all my less desirable traits hero worship or mockery? My gut says the latter.

Gonna toot my sweetie's horn again (oh, get your mind out of the gutter!!!). He apparently finished this up at work today. Those aren't applied stripes, he did 'em by hand. Gorgeous Mustang, eh? This car just screams PULL ME OVER.

Merriam Webster's Word of the Day

How interesting. I think most of us have already been introduced to this word, as it's been used by many myriad times over the last decade or so. Almost always in reference to a certain orange creature.

Word of the Day: Bloviate
Warren G. Harding is often linked to the word bloviate, but to him the word wasn't insulting; it simply meant 'to spend time idly.' Harding used the word often in that 'hanging around' sense, but

Curious. I thought oil stock value and heating oil (and gasoline) prices were related, but I guess not. Oil stock is actually lower now than it was most of the summer, but heating oil prices have definitely shot up now that it's colder here, about 30c/gallon. I smell greed, don't I?

RI resident here, reachin' out to my sisters in state who might need tire services. This place is amazing. You can go alone & you will be treated politely and respectfully. You will not be talked down to or taken advantage of. Your questions will be answered, with explanations. /1

Cats are such amazing creatures. Alpha hunters, but so adorably cute we can ignore how lethal they are. They are also extremely perceptive. Even asleep, they KNOW when we have cleaned their toilets, and will immediately bolt over there to re-hang the hazmat signs as soon as our backs are turned.

My beautiful, undignified Kat in her signature pose mid-bathe. Green is her color, aye?

Remember when "Hamburger Helper" meant low income thriftiness? Now, chicken and rice is far cheaper & even healthier! 80/20 Hamburger on sale for $3.47/lb. Chicken thighs on sale 99c lb. Rice, 10 lbs for $20 (50c/lb). Add a pound of carrots and you can still feed your family cheaper on chicken.

Aaaaannnnddd... how long did it take YOU to figure out which end is which!? Some cats do the loaf, mine is doing... what? A scone?

So we live in a corner (yes really, IN, not ON), and I always back into the driveway. Yesterday, someone was behind me so I hurried & hit a damned stump to the left and totally decimated my bumper. Pic on the right isn't a "before" damage, it's AFTER hubs spent 2 hours fixing it. Isn't he AMAZING?

The convoluted fun of thrifting... find and buy a dresser for $20. Notice it has the wrong handles. Eventually find a bag of the RIGHT Hepplewhite style handles for $6 at the same thrift a couple months later. Sell the Colonial style handles for $39.50. Voila. A free dresser.

We had a busy little summer. In addition to the new electrical system I posted at the beginning of the season, we did numerous other small things around the island house. Also spent 3 Saturdays after closing up for the season helping to put in a new water main system. More in Alt Text...

We finally got another "new to us" car, and I got my freedom back after six months of sharing the van with hubs. Shopping after work hours sucks! I like to go early, 'cause sometimes I find bargains like this. "Catch" was they expired in 2 days, but that's nothin'. Got 2 for us, 2 for his cousins.

My sweet luvvie tortie cat. Well. Kat is not demonstrative with her affection, but she doesn't fool me, I know she loves us. She is enjoying my newly recovered kitchen chairs! Only took me about 4-5 years to get around to doing it, hahaha.

Mz. Kat has been fine. She missed us on weekends, even though she pretended she didn't.
