Gone 28 years today. I was 17, taking a shower late on a Saturday morning and listening to the local alt station when they broke the news. I crumbled.
I recently watched a documentary about him that talked about his previously undisclosed TBI, and things made more sense. He had so many struggles.

Trying a new to me place for breakfast. Their prices are better than anywhere else I’ve seen nearby. They don’t have GF toast, but I’ll live without that. Ordered the Stacy’s Special hashbrowns with no mushrooms.

Not intending to make it sound like he drank a lot. He didn’t. But he did enjoy a nice rocks margarita, glass of Glenlivet, or dark beer every now and then. My brothers got into his Glenlivet the day after he died (while I was still in Seattle); I had the closest thing I could get on the plane home.

Six years ago today, I was buying jumbo googly eyes in bulk, to use as pasties in a stage production of Rocky Horror. You kinda had to be there, but it was fun.
I used to be pretty cool. Life got in the way, though, and I genuinely don’t know if I’ll ever recover. Makes me sad to think about.
