For those interested in Police accountability PCC's are reportedly being replaced.

I wrote about PCC's in Criminology and Crime Prevention (amzn.eu/d/9PQ8rMQ), if I do a second edition, this is potentially going to be something that gets changed!

BBC News:

Police and crime commissioners to be scrapped in England and Wales
The government says it will save £100m over this Parliament and less than 20% of voters can name their PCC.

Credit where it's due, I'm pretty new to the OU and haven't been a student for a while but the @oulibrary.bsky.social have been blimin' amazing.

Information sessions, speedy responses to emails and even bought a text they didn't originally have within 24 hours of me requesting!

10/10 from me!

Went out to Co-Op to get emergency snacks (Milky Way Lucky Stars for me) hearing the rain on the roof and thought 'I'm sure it's not that heavy...just sounds loud'.

I can confirm (and so can my trackies) that it is indeed raining that hard.

There's never a good time for a Washing machine to break. But less than a week after it's been fixed and after you've just done some early Christmas shopping, is certainly up there for the poor timing award

Washing machine fixed, so glad that was a stress that no one wants

Always exciting to see when the Amazon book rating jump up when someone buys a copy!

#Criminology and Crime Prevention seems to be more popular, I presume due to the new Uni term starting that or there is a sudden interest in Criminology and Crime Prevention!

Probably going to sound quite sad but when I check Amazon's author central and see my book position go up, I get excited someone has actually bought it!

It's the only way I can see if the book is selling, and from March, I have book 2 to watch too!

A common question is should I start buying books?

Honestly you don't have to but if you like to get ahead here is a list of some I would recommend

With December crime stats for London (Metropolitan Police) published today, I've had a quick look at homicide trends since 2003. Provisionally, the 105 homicides in 2024 was the lowest annual total since 2014 and second lowest in the last 22 years. #crimestats
