He’s a machine. Looks really hard to pitch to. Covers everything.

Congrats!!

Offense still so punchless, outside of Buck. Still hard to predict what they will do at the deadline.

I’ll check that! Thanks!

Been trying to change from monthly to yearly but not quite seeing how to do it. My own fumbling. Will keep trying.

He gets to be psyched because he pitched a shut out for 5 and can be confident in his next outing. But all it would have taken is a walk and a home run (easy to see against the Cubs) and he leaves a tie game feeling like crap.

It’s all context-driven. Also was day after an off day with fully rested bullpen and crucial game they need to win (if they sell at the deadline he will probably pitch deeper). And also not long ago he was sent to AAA because he couldn’t get through 4 IP.

When they don’t have just a 2-0 lead
July 9, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Awesome! Love all the stuff from your back catalog that has been coming out recently

Varland’s conversion to the bullpen so successful. He seems to either set down three in a row easily or confidently works out of a jam if he lets a guy on base. He almost never seems to be behind in the count.

Honestly, that sounds suspiciously too soon. They pushed Austin Martin too soon as well

Just got mine. So good! Had some of these back in the day but not all. Great collection!

Incredible

Over / under on how many starts Randy Dobnak makes for the Twins in the rest of the season? Good mailbag question
June 21, 2025 at 11:50 PM
you’ve got to be fucking kidding
June 21, 2025 at 11:44 PM
And college World Series ! LSU and Coastal Carolina
June 21, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Brutal. Today felt so much like the end of last year. Behind the scenes they must be planning to sell at the deadline at this point. Just so few positives and no real help on the horizon.

Behind the scenes they must be making plans to sell at the deadline. Today really felt like late August / early Sept of last year
June 21, 2025 at 8:43 PM
Now impossible to predict how the rest of this season might go, even more so than before this injury
June 8, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Good article, as usual. I’m betting that these four games against the A’s are his last chance to pull it together against a bad team in a minor league park. It would then make sense to send him somewhere for a reset once they come back from the road trip.

I like both of those. In reality, I think France will continue to play every day unless he gets hurt or stops clutch hitting. And I think also the same for Bader once he heals up. They also don’t seem to like Castro much in the infield this year.

I was trying to imagine what the move will be when Wallner gets activated. Kiersey Jr.? Jonah Bride? McCusker?
May 22, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Wish he had managed to get a hit! But good to see Carlos is probably incoming.
