Up in the rafters but with no objection - St. Vincent at the Proms was perfection. Masterful orchestral arrangements by Rachel Eckroth that genuinely sounded like they came from a minimalist composition. A brilliant and emotional collaboration between orchestral and amplified sound.

I am fortunate enough to be singing under the batton of the legendary Joe Hisaishi for his performance at the BBC proms this Thursday ! Hisaishi was kind enough to give a photo and autograph 😍

A moody scene of gorgeous Conwy, North Wales, where I visited to perform in the Conwy Classical Music Festival. We opened the concert with the folk song Lisa Lan.

Bûm yn dy garu lawer gwaith
Do lawer awr mewn mwynder maith
Bûm yn dy gusanu Lisa gêl
Yr oedd dy gwmni'n well na'r mêl.

In particular, I'm enjoying this reading list on disability in Premodern and Early Japan, with a great cover photo that is a reminder that the tōdō guild of the blind were the primary contributors to modern koto playing styles and repertories (japanpastandpresent.org/en/teaching-...)

I thoroughly enjoyed learning about @jppinfo.bsky.social with a brilliant presentation given by @paularcurtis.bsky.social at SOAS on Wednesday evening. I'm already making use of the reading lists on the website, which are one of many amazing resources available!
