The Kumeyaay discovered that seeds of the datura (locoweed), which is poisonous to animals and humans, could be ground up and used as a headache remedy. This is an example of indigenous brilliance. The Kumeyaay lived so sustainably that they left little trace here in Southern California.

The fog is really mist, backlit by the sun. I'm at my daughter's place in Ocean Beach, CA. We flew in late last night, so I slept on the couch.

Brightening up the sink countertop. Oleander blooms from the backyard. Unknown plant gift from my friend Shari, the plant lady, as my husband calls her.

This is Tribble (IYKYK). She was born in a closet in the home of a friend of mine. And the last kitten to come out. Tabetha worried she hadn't enough socializing. She loves watching finches in the oleander bushes. And occasionally launches into the glass to catch one of them.

Here's Dobby. The sweater is covering wounds to the back of his neck. He lost his eye very young to a non-venom snake bite.

The crescent moon. I don't know which planet. It seems too large for Venus which usually appears in the west in the evening. This picture is of the eastern sky at nearly dawn. Yes, I know it's late/early. I'm still up.

Caught Dobby scratching his injury. Again. So back he goes into the cone of shame. And still on house arrest.

This is Dorothy Rose Jumper Rodgers, my mother. She was born in Philadelphia. It's her birthday. She bore 6 children and made us 5 girls look-alike dresses each in our assigned color. Mine was green. She died as a result of Parkinsons. She had 7 grandchildren and, now, 5 great grandchildren.
