Of wanting a large family, but the uncertainty of your country/human rights/climate/income/healthcare/children’s future terrifies you… Do I want to create a life and family that I dreamed of? Or is that a completely selfish pipe dream?

Of wanting a sibling for your only child, but unsure if it’s worth your mental and physical health… Do I want my child to have a sibling? Or do I want him to have a healthy, present, & stable Mother?

Recognizing these truths do not take anything away from me as a doula, woman, or mother.
It does, however, help me show up better for others. As a postpartum doula, my job is to show up and nurture the nurturers - the parents. To do that, parents need to feel safe, seen, and heard.
