Anecdotal but I only gave up my car while living in STL after Uber & Lyft came. Taxis would often take an hour to arrive. I couldn't board the bus unless I had two $1 bills or weekly/monthly pass. I didn't need a pass bc I walked to work. Most bus routes were sparse and once per hour.

anyone who's had to put up with the Siemens Ventures isn't disappointed by this, it's fully expected at this point. Anything that requires Amtrak staff to do anything beyond the bare minimum e.g. update digital signage, check thermostats, adjust PA volumes, not hog cafe car tables; isn't happening

St. Louis metro just spent $50 million on Amazon warehouse level turnstiles and are closing entrances to MetroLink stations to appease local TV station facebook page comments sections that don't even live in the tax district. All they care about is the image of "safety"
