He's designed to be indigenous/Hispanic based on my own ancestry, so it was fun to research a little!

Baldur's Gate 3 comic. Aldiirn gleefully pluck-plucks handfuls of glowing mushrooms into a pouch. "Boosties!" he calls them, "I'll be able to cultivate them again with spores from these!" Wyll asks, "What manner of mushroom are they?" "Boostshrooms keep you going over long hauls," Aldiirn answers, "There's enough for everyone, give them a go!" Wyll and Karlach go right for the offered boostshrooms, Astarion and Shadowheart following after a moment's hesitation. Moments later... Aldiirn and Wyll are fine and gab about the boostshrooms putting a pep in their step, while the other three have wildly different reactions. Shadowheart recites a prayer to her lady while on the verge of a heart attack, Karlach is PUMPED as her engine runs hotter than ever, and Astarion seems to be melting. Yet another moment later... three successive thumps to the ground get Aldiirn and Wyll to turn around to see the others collapsed; Shadowheart is making death saves, Karlach's vents are pouring smoke, and Astarion is more slime than vampire. Astarion can only gurgle while crawling on the ground and reaching out with one disintegrating hand. "Need a top up on boosties already?" Aldiirn asks him.
