Bright red, barely anything left in the tank, but HAPPY. Longest run of the year so far - only 4k but very happy with that. If you need motivation or a sign that you should do something active today - this is it.
A selfie of me sat on a wall (the old stone bridge over the Penrhos cutting) very red in the face but smiling. I definitely look as tired as I felt when taking the photo!

This photo shows the aurora as a long green zig-zaggy line from top right to bottom centre against a near black sky. A faint purple colour can be seen around the green. Stars are visible in the sky. The photo was taken in Night Setting but otherwise has not been altered.

Why My Run Didn't Go So Well This Morning: A series of photographs.
Instead of a path, there is instead a huge puddle of water which is too big to go around and too vast to jump. The person taking the photo did not attempt either of these. A very muddy patch of grass across which you can see the footprints and slide marks of people who have tried to use it as a path to get around the flood (see previous picture). A pavement covered almost entirely in snow and ice which would be treacherous to run or jog on. The photographer has pointed the camera down their legs towards their feet, which are clad in socks but no shoes. A wet tide line can be seen halfway up the socks, meaning the wearer's feet are completely soaked, despite not running through the flood (see previous picture)

I restarted the Couch to 5k recently and although I always find running a struggle, there were 2 lovely things about this morning's run:
1. This view across the frozen lake
2. That I ran "with" my sister this morning even though she's 200 miles away.
In the foreground is a frozen lake, fringed by icy grass. In the background is Castle View housing estate in Caerphilly, which you can just make out against the rising hillside. Your eyes are drawn first to the glow of the sun starting to rise over the hillside, making it look like the horizon is on fire.

This Christmas I have mostly been trying to get my cats out of the bag for the presents.
There are two photographs side by side. Both show a brightly coloured carrier bag. In the left photo a small black cat sits in the bag. You can only just see her face - side profile - over the top of the bag. In the right hand photo, a slightly larger ginger cat sits in the bag. His face is visible clearly looking out over the edge of the bag, facing the camera. He looks pleased with himself (or so the photographer anthropomorphised)

They're now the fully grown menaces that all kittens deserve to be: Happy 1st Birthday Treacle and Marmalade.
This is a side by side comparison of two photographs of two cats, taken 1 year apart in which the cats are sitting in similar positions: the larger ginger cat is sat behind the smaller black cat while they're both sat up facing the camera. In the left hand photo they're both tiny fuzzy little kittens, in the right hand photo they're 1 year old and nearly fully grown adult cats, although technically STILL A LITTLE BABY.

Sunday thoughts: freedom is knowledge, and knowledge is education.

I'm very worried about the state of education in Wales and the apparent lack of awareness from Labour.
A screenshot of a tweet by Sioned Williams which says: Welsh Finance Minister Mark Drakeford claiming the UK budget signals an end to neo-liberal policies. Can't think of anything that demonstrates a neo-liberal approach more than Labour's escalation of student tuition fees and failure to reform the current broken HE funding model. A screenshot of a tweet from Cefin Campbell MS in October this year: As Welsh Universities face huge financial pressures, the Welsh Labour Minister outlined plans in the Senedd for an emergency fund to support our higher education sector. Tonight, in a letter to MS: the Minister had to confirm no such plans exist Screenshots of tweets from Matt Bernstein, sharing stats of two states that voted unanimously: Oklahoma (Republican) and Massachusetts (Democrat). Matt comments that the takeaway is "not that we should hate poor uneducated people but that the republican party directly benefits from keeping people poor and educated which is why they create policies which do just that." He adds "calling people dumb... might feel good... but these people are also victims of the politicians they elect and we need to figure out how to communicate that." There's a fantastic art exhibition in Queen Street Gallery in Neath at the moment, showing the Art of Independence - what independence means to people, to their community and to Wales.

It's on until Saturday 30th November, and has come about from a competition run by Yes Cymru Pen Y Bont ar Ogwr.

Nice to be back in Treorchy tonight for Eisteddfod y Rhondda, with Côr Godre'r Garth.
