Flicks through the papers; buys the odd book; listens to radio.

Eastern Ireland. July '23.
Thank you for this. It's surprisingly hard to find information.

It's worse than that: there's some flooding in Dalkey.

My ignorance is bottomless. Even about aspects of this place.

At this stage it would be more in my line to use it for a lamp in front of my art.

And, funnily enough, it was when I pulled the casting couch out today to do a bit of light housework that one of those sockets came properly to light as not what it seemed.

Funnily enough, the dimmer switches elsewhere in that room are failing and I can't get an electrician to come to replace them; (not even my friend-electrician has the time).

In a house I bought I got the snagging list back, ticked off, but with "F*** off!" written against a few items. The building trade was riding high just then.

I'm amazed I have come so far without knowing this.
November 11, 2025 at 5:14 PM
Thank you. My ignorance, which seems to be uncommon, still shocks me.
November 11, 2025 at 5:13 PM
Thank you! How have I come so far without knowing this?
November 11, 2025 at 5:00 PM
I have enough shoes, certainly.

Might they have worked loose over the years?
November 11, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Thank you! I now have an excuse for purchasing too.

(It's so funny to know that other people say the Big Light. I used to think that was another oddity of our family to be kept secret.)

Thank you very much indeed. That is what I wouldn't have been able to find myself, or even been able to search for sensibly or usefully.

Oddly, there are two, arranged symmetrically on either side of a domestically-vast window in a living room, no more than 20 cm from the floor in each case, and not noticed as not being sockets until this afternoon.

It bears the scars of my trying to bash the Henry plug into it, without bending down too much from my great height.
November 11, 2025 at 4:49 PM
I was staring at it for a while, wondering if it was a TV / phone point. Then I wondered if it was for an outdoor electricity plug.

I thought they were now contrary to regulations, but someone put one (and only one) in here in 2007.

There's such a difference between availing of the resources of English to express something exactly and misusing them to confound while trying to impress.
November 11, 2025 at 4:17 PM
Would we miss it if it was gone? Could we use use?
November 11, 2025 at 4:02 PM
It's all quite odd. A misspelling isn't an impossibility, I suppose.
