There’s a very specific modest pessimism to Vikings fandom that only a state filled with taciturn Lutherans can muster. When Gary Anderson missed that kick in 1998, my dad (a jr high 🏈 coach) hyperventilated and walked of the house. It’s not a curse—it’s just Minnesotans refusing to be too flashy.

I helped write a disaster prep playbook once and the bottom line was: even if you think your disability (or the disability of a family member/friend/neighbor) is nbd during “normal” times, you need to think hard about how to survive without access to aids, electricity, water, medicine, etc.
