Antisemitism was a word that has been in use since the late C19, as the Germans wanted something it replace ‘Judenhass’ (Jew hatred). Semitic languages include Arabic, Maltese, Amharic, Aramaic and a few others including Hebrew. It makes as much sense as anti-Germanic for a hatred of the English.
