Poor from BBC Scotland in web feature on Grantown on Spey's Bobby Cruikshank. Typical BBC, 'we haven't heard of him, he must be forgotten'. Which other Scot won as many US tournaments in US? Try Tommy Armour, Bobby's lifelong friend (together in photo)

Meaning for 20 years to update the Club Type pages on the AGCFS website and have finally begun with driving irons. When I can, I will add advice on what greats of the day (based on personal prejudice probably Harry Vardon) had to say about the clubs' use.

Almost everyone who has seen an old hickory golf club will be aware of the stamp "Warranted Hand Forged" and club descriptions on eBay offer many fanciful descriptions of what this means. What was it all about and what were the arguments surrounding it.

Bumped into a Scotsman in Bucharest and we got to talking about the Rubber Shop in #Aberdeen (as you do). Here is a piece I wrote about its connection with an extremely rare and valuable celluloid golf club.

Few will know of this St Andrews émigré www.antiquegolfscotland.com/antiquegolf/.... Caddied for Vardon at 1895 Open, determined Chick Evans' golfing career by toss of a coin and refereed during Bobby Jones' shoe incident. First pro in Kansas, popularised golf in New Orleans. #chickevans #bobbyjones

Sad, they’re turning their backs on both history and nature. It seems that this 133 year old golf course was originally designed as a natural concept, where animals could co-exist with golfers.
But of course the new clientele prefers the more sterile appeal of manicured grass so that’s going to go…

Several early 20th century Scottish footballers, such as Jimmy Lawson of Dundee, became pro golfers. In England, George Kitchen www.antiquegolfscotland.com/antiquegolf/... was probably unique: #golfpro at the same time as keeping goal for West Ham and later #SouthamptonFC #WHUFC #golfhistory

Phillip S Honeyman, early professional in US had at least two interesting stories to tell, one about his life in #StAndrews carefully constructed and totally untrue. Advocate for ladies’ golf, caddie education, a detective and a liar. www.antiquegolfscotland.com/antiquegolf/... #Cincinnati #golf
