Submit your bird bottoms here! Field guides for birds all too often are designed with the dated assumption that you are observing an inanimate museum specimen. The drawings, photos, and descriptions in field guides prioritize an unrealistic bird's eye view of birds from the side and top, with the underside in particular being more of an afterthought, if it's described at all. This project aims to fill in that gap. Your "bad" shots are welcome here! If enough observations are added to the collection, the search function within the project may eventually serve as a decent enough online field guide to reference when trying to identify species. Requirements: • Photos of live birds. Please don't submit dead specimens (it's sad, and also the feathers are always ruffled up). • View featuring the bird's underside -- undertail, vent, belly, chin, etc. Not all need to be visible at once in the same shot.
