My question is - is this focus deliberate? Do you include the local governance of Marlow to establish a strong sense of place? The combination of the plot and setting being so provincial makes Marlow feel lived-in. Thanks for your writing Robert; I've pre-ordered book 5 and look forward to reading!

asbestos in the construction of a council-owned building advances the plot, a murdered local government official and local governmental failure in administration of burial plots, - the list goes on. The scope of these issues lends a practicality to each of these books that makes them a joy to read.

Just finished it tonight! I liked the cast of characters in this one a lot and I think it’s my favorite of the series so far. Spoilers below so stop reading if you want……………..ok I loved the angle with the environmental poisoning. A very contemporary addition.

For one, I think 3-4 million is low. Secondly, ACA marketplace enrollees tend to be older than 26 (off their parents' insurance.)

Spent 3 consecutive days in downtown and did not have any concerning experiences. Also noticed how remarkably clean the central city is. Neither of these would have been true from 2015-2024 probably.
