They re-recorded the song after Henley decided to change the key. An actor in the new hell house movie is edited starting a line up high…looking around while saying the second part lower…then turning to face his scene partner before saying last part low…twice. High…mid…low…high…mid…low. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen this before. An uncanny valley of inflection.

I love remembering the debate about whether this song was about the therapist the album was dedicated to. Oh sure, the band was about aging hipsters grappling with mortality, but surely this was about something more extreme, more romantic than…THAT. Nope!

Love that Billy’s wives got younger and younger but instead of envy she’s like “psssh he wrote the 70s ones for me, been there.” Carrie Fisher had this vibe re Paul Simon. Had some laughs, got some valentines he’ll sing forever out of him, I don’t need to be up close with his pampered neuroses now.
