“Fewer” has become the next “and I.”

At some point, people learned that “less” is often used when people mean “fewer.” So they started defaulting to “fewer” in EVERY CASE.

Sometimes, folks, you mean “less.” And sometimes, it’s “and me.”

Team Pedro.

Funny how this article goes from calling Pascal’s words an “attack” on JKR without ever characterizing her incessant unprovoked attacks on trans women the same way.

And then it somehow becomes a plug for the upcoming Harry Potter series.

The Guardian isn’t usually this shitty.

Devastating.
From my visit last week to the Topaz Internment Camp, where Fred Korematsu was interned. This quote still sticks with me.
I think I’m going to be thinking about this quote from Gordon Hirabayshi on the walls of the museum for a long time.

As a Lithuanian American and a U.S. veteran, I am both proud and disgusted today.
The Lithuanian president showed up to honor dead American soldiers as their remains departed his country.

The American president did not show up to receive their remains as they arrived in the US.

He had a golf tournament to get to.
…U.S. soldiers were honored by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausada, as well as other dignitaries, during a dignified departure ceremony from Lithuania.

"We consider US soldiers in Lithuania as our own. The farewell ceremony once again demonstrated our society's solidarity, respect, and…

The wheels are coming off faster than we could have imagined. Anyone who thinks this is good is not worth speaking to. They’re cultists. They’re unfixable.

I’ve been avoiding posting anything political since November, because what’s the fucking point? But this renaming of the Gulf of Mexico is so inane.

Naming a geographical feature after your own country is as dumb as naming a war after the side you’re on. 1/2

Congrats, MAGAts. You got what you ordered. Unfortunately, the smart people got what you ordered, too.
And this is how the uber-wealthy can ensure that the "greatest transfer in wealth in the nation's history" isn't from boomers to their children and grandchildren, but from boomers to healthcare executives and investors. Welcome to (nearly) universal death bankruptcy.

President Carter was too gentlemanly to give anyone the finger, so I’d like to think this is his way of expressing the sentiment.

This Veterans Day, I have one simple request.

Don’t you DARE thank me for my service if you voted for someone who has publicly called me a “sucker” and a “loser.”

Your performative faux patriotism means nothing to me. Just flip me off, I’ll flip you off, and we’ll call it good. #VeteransDay

When I hear an athlete who just made an amazing play give “all the glory to Jesus,” I instantly lose respect.

It’s not that I disrespect their faith.

It’s that I think that’s a pathetically transactional view of religion. “God decided to help me personally because I’m so devout.” 1/2

I know #Yellowstone is really popular and I’m sure it’s good, but I generally don’t enjoy the genre/setting, so I’ll prolly pass. In the meantime, the trailers seem to mostly consist of Costner being craggy and Kelly Reilly sneering out boss-lady threats. Succession out west?

Okay. Big girl pants back on. Time to go put on my neutral face and explain to my students why, 159 years after the end of slavery and 104 years after the 19th Amendment, we still can’t elect a smart, patriotic, accomplished black woman over a stinking pile of festering feces.

Remember when we thought Ronald Reagan was an intellectual lightweight unsuited to the presidency?

Those were the days.

Not saying we were wrong. But it was the beginning of a progression.

From Reagan to Bush 43.

From Bush 43 to Sarah Palin on a ticket.

From Palin to Trump.
