28 pieces needing revisions and redrafting... Oh I haven't missed this niche of purgatory.

So after finding this and mulling it over... I'm starting to work on making a collection. Don't know if its going to be a pamphlet or a full book but I want to reprise the old collection and add some newer work to it as well.

Let's see if I can finish up 'Dagurreotype' by year's end.

I stumbled on a collection of poems I self-published in my early twenties the other night and it is remarkable how much I've grown since then.

Just went through one of the pieces and rewrote and... the difference in direction and in style is so stark I can't believe I wrote both poems.

I'm meant to be doing a kind of queer book club through Pride month but the first book was so incredibly bad that I'm questioning whether to keep going with it honestly

Day 30 - We will finish as we began - with a Sijo. But I want you to write one that reflects on one of the poems you have written so far this month. I hope you had a fun month and got some good new drafts out of this!

Day 29 - As if we were going to get away with a poetry writing challenge without one of my least favourite forms being snuck in there! Today, the task is to write a Villanelle. Best of luck! If you need a refresher on what a villanelle is, you can find it here: www.writersdigest.com/write-better...

Day 28 - Today, you’re being given something to use as the title or the first line of your poem and the rest is up to you. The line is: “There are weirder ways to learn about death"

Day 26 - Today I want you to write a poem that could double as a horoscope. Whether that be for your own star sign or someone you know.

Day 23 - Find a translated work from a poet that does not write in your native language and write in response to their piece - how it makes you feel or the place it takes you.

Day 22 - Write a poem made of only dialogue. No description, no dialogue tags. Make it as realistic as possible, or completely nonsensical, but this poem will include speech and only speech!

Day 21 - Time for another form and today I want you to attempt a Tanka. And for the subject I’d like you to choose a famous work of art. The title of the artwork should form the title of your poem. For a brief overview of a Tanka: www.writersdigest.com/write-better...

Day 20 - Write a poem that starts with a tree. Think about what season you want it to be and thus what it looks like (are there leaves/blossom/bare branches)? Think about where you are in relation to it. See where it takes you.

Day 19 - Write a poem that is also a letter. To your past or future self; to a friend; to an emotion; to a loved one who passed away.

Day 17 - Who’s up for interpreting some tarot cards through poetry. If you have a tarot deck then give it a shuffle and pull the top card. Whatever you draw forms the subject of your piece - what it means in general or what it would mean to you.

Day 15 - I want you to write a poem that is also a list or an inventory. My favourite example of this is ‘Oxfam’ by Carol Ann Duffy.

Day 14 - Write a poem that describes a scene or event specific to a particular season, but avoid the usual suspects. Yes, robins signal spring, and leaves turn red in the fall. But for this prompt, we’re digging deeper into the ways we recognize seasons. Surprise yourself!
