Been playing around with Godot 4.4's shadow masks for some VFX effects and while I really love how they look, lighting with shadows is such a toll on performance.

Probably should prototype some regular VFX and see if I can get a similar look without the performance hits.

Found out that ROCKNIX uses Sway as a compositor. Been saying that it was hard to run Godot games on the cheap retro handhelds due to lack of Wayland, but it should run out of the box now. Of course, they're limited to using OpenGL.

The biggest change that came with Godot 4.4 is the Godot Docs making the 4.4 branch become stable. No longer do I have to switch over to latest every time.

The upcoming Framework 12 looks really cool. Might consider it when my current laptop needs an upgrade, so hopefully a couple of gens will have passed.

Did epilation on my legs. If things go well, might continue to do it over shaving my legs and might even do epilation on other parts. If not, I'll just go back to shaving.

Hopefully, it's not as painful next time.

My niece is very silly and getting even sillier by the day. Me and my sisters are distressed, figuring out how we can hope to keep up or maybe even exceed her silliness. 😔

Follow up to my previous post. Got the Koss KSC35 and have been really enjoying them, but the ear clips it comes with are not comfortable.

Took the ear clips from the ATH-EM7x and put them onto these. Modded the cable to be detachable and got some Yaxi pads.

All in all, I really love these.

Modded a pair of ATH-EM7x to have detachable cables.

I really like the look of them, but the sound quality isn't that great without EQing. So I've taken the ear hooks for a separate DIY project that I'll post when I'm done.

PR for bug fix got approved!

It does make me want to slowly build up my knowledge of C++ more since the PR showed me some gaps in my knowledge. It would be good to learn so I'll be able to see more solutions to bugs.

Probably should also learn more Kotlin in case of Android related bugs.

Weekend arrives so I stop working on my Godot project. All so I can work on fixing a bug in Godot that is affecting my project. That counts as taking a break from my project, right?

Been actually playing Legend of Mana, the aesthetic inspiration for my game, and the combat is quite fun.

Really just wish it wasn't so open ended with what to do. I'm using a walkthrough right now, but I kinda want to try it without one and see how much I'd miss or how stuck I'd get without it.

Godot 4.4 dev 7 has "riskier" changes from TheForge collaboration. Gotta monitor how it affects stability, but right now I'm able to hit a solid 60 FPS on my lowest spec Android device when previously it was 40 at best. Really happy.

Using the new dev build, Godot 4.4.dev4. I previously made an AoE visualizer but the new build added Shadow Caster Masks.

The old visualizer on the right is a bunch of vertical meshes making up the shape. The new one on the left is basically a "shadow".

Got a new fightpad. Might actually learn to play Strive after 2 years of owning the game.

It's a modified version of the Stress by GroooveBob. I just added another UP button at the bottom.
