We must be organized and focused in our efforts. We can’t spend our energy on fights that get us nowhere… although that’s what the R wants. And sadly the L will do that, because they always let perfect be the enemy of good. 8/

So basically these people just want to be mad to be mad. To attack people without a plan. To refuse to participate in the good fight if it’s not 100% in line with their values. They want to “stick it to the man” but only on their terms. 7/

Oklahoma legislature is focusing on cutting education spending, stripping healthcare rights and services, etc. They gave a history of misappropriating funds. What do you think they’d do with increased revenues?

Not spend it on social services or uplifting kids, I’m sure. 6/

To which I say: “I get it. Nobody needs billions of $. And they certainly should pay their fair share. But without competent leaders to do appropriate things with that tax revenue what does it matter?” 5/

I point this out and say “maybe we’re barking up the wrong tree by targeting someone who actively works to improve the life of many.”

I get called a “billionaire sympathizer” and berated with euphemisms about “If you have all the apples in the world…” 4/

Said billionaire has a family foundation that “The foundation is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through investments in early childhood education, community health, social services and civic enhancement.”

He funds many initiatives. He actively tries to improve our city and its youth. 3/

Someone responds with “I dunno, maybe the local billionaires.”

[Reader, this is Oklahoma. There are very few billionaires here.]

OP asks “who would that be?”

Someone responds with perhaps the only local billionaire. 2/

I’m just so surprised bc a) pretty sure we got the illness from a birthday party last weekend and the kids were obviously in other kids’ faces and b) my son is definitely more prone to being sick!

I mean I’m happy they’re well* but also would love for them to slow down for a day 😂
