Sorry I know this is supposed to be about romance but you can trace so much of the toxic behavior in the gamer community back to "strategy guide" mentality in real life. There's lots of "I deserve this I did everything right". While I don't believe gaming is responsible, it sure as shit didn't help.

I think it's crucial. I'd even go further to say it's okay to be a bit sadistic to your player base so long as they have an idea what they're getting into. Friction, disappointment, pyrrhic victories and bittersweet victories are rife in life. Fuck Dybowski himself but I love some of his ideas...

Oh and none of that "My sexuality is the PC" bull. My gay characters are gay, my straight characters are straight. My bi characters are bi. That just takes me out of it.

Even without being part of the "writing room" they are. Imagine Twin Peaks with Nicholas Cage playing Dale Cooper? Even if he follows everything to Lynch's (rest his soul) instructions to a T he WILL change the narrative if only slightly. You might as well let them suggest lines and directions.

If I had a team. Everyone should be allowed in the writing room (discord? zoom meeting? retroshare group?). Fuck auteur theory.
But 100% actors of any kind would be part of the writing.
