Ratfish are a type of chimaera, a cartilaginous fish. Unlike other cartilaginous fish, like sharks, ratfish's teeth are permanent and plate-shaped to grind down prey. They also have a venomous spine on their back!
Not my best pic, but still a cool species!

Had no idea Georgia Aquarium has African tigerfish, which I've been wanting to see since I was a literal child. Extremely pleasant surprise and my mom was very confused why I was so excited about this large grey fish

this brave jumping spider endured the horrors of automobile transportation (got stuck on the outside of the window of the car)
but it survived and has a new home in the tree in my yard :D

thank you to the keeper at Sylvan Heights Bird Park who very gently removed the roseate spoonbill that had landed directly on my mom's head while i stood there taking photos like an idiot, you were very cool, not sure what i was supposed to do in that situation but felt like a bit of a dumbass

yeah going from this to Georgia Aquarium was. A difference to be sure
(AGAIN - no shade to the SEA LIFE staff and animal care! It was great! the vibes were just a bit more on the tourist-y side and also the aquarium was literally in a mall.)
after spending so much time in beautiful AZA public aquariums it feels really weird going to a chain that is very clearly profit-motivated (SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord)
the animals were well cared for and i have nothing but respect for the staff but it was in a mall and the bass pro shop was bigger
